Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- dash of salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F. Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Cut the butter into small cubes and combine with flour with your hands or a pastry blender until the mixture is coarse and crumbly. Work quickly to prevent the butter from melting.
- Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined. The mixture should be wet.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board. Using your hands, press the dough down to 1 inch thick.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut into rounds. Use flour to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands and the work surface and most importantly, do not overwork the dough.
- Place evenly spaced on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until golden-brown on top.
