  • Kirsten has been unable to escape the comfort of the food industry since her first job as a sandwich maker at Panera Bread. Later, she became a server and a bartender at a local Mexican restaurant in her hometown.
  • Though she considers herself a classic cocktail connoisseur, having sipped on spirits in fine dining establishments, Kirsten finds it quite difficult to pass on drinking a Jack and Coke in a dive bar.
  • She toured and sampled the delicious treats from Duck Donuts before the West Chester location opened to the public as part of a press preview.

Experience

When she decided to pursue her passion for arranging words at West Chester University, Kirsten's journey with journalistic writing began with food as she found the subject comfortable and familiar. Kirsten first earned a position as a staff writer at her university newspaper by writing a dessert review column, capturing the ambiance and flavors of local businesses in bite-sized sentences. As her career blossomed, she stayed local, writing about a variety of topics for Philadelphia Style, PhillyVoice, and now, Food Republic.

Education

Kirsten earned her Bachelor of the Arts in English at West Chester University, where she also minored in journalism and creative writing. During her time at college, she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the national honors fraternity for English majors, maintaining above a 3.5 GPA to remain in good standing with the organization.
