James Beard Foundation Is Hiring: President Susan Ungaro Steps Down
After 11 years as president of the James Beard Foundation, Susan Ungaro will be stepping down at the end of 2017. The search for the foundation's new leader is now underway.
As president, Ungaro has opened the floor to subjects like improvement of America's food systems, diversity in kitchens and sustainability. She's also seen a lot of change in the foundation in her time. The inclusion of awards for food-centric blogging, journalism and even podcasting were made during her presidency. She was also responsible for relocating the awards to from New York to Chicago, and establishing the JBF's Women's Leadership Programs.
Now that Ungaro will be retiring her reign on the foundation, perhaps an James Beard Award for best food Instagram is due for reconsideration. We're just saying.
