New York City chef Chris Santos, perhaps best known for his role as a judge on the Food Network cooking show Chopped, has announced the launch of his own music label in partnership with Metal Blade Records. The new label, called Blacklight Media, will focus on hard rock and heavy metal bands; a group called Good Tiger is first on the roster.

In a press release, Santos, the executive chef and managing partner of NYC spots Vandal, the Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex, described his new musical sideline as a “dream come true” and pledged to produce tunes that would be as “engaging, well rounded and sometimes whimsical” as his cooking.

In a recent videotaped interview with Alternative Press, Santos talked about how his partnership with boozy brand Jägermeister has allowed him to hang out with musicians at heavy metal festivals like Mayhem and Carolina Rebellion while also whipping up recipes using the popular German digestif for all the hungry headbangers in attendance.
