The radio and podcast division of Monocle features a weekly food show, “The Menu,” that addresses the culinary world’s topics du jour and includes interviews and on-location reports with key chefs and figures. It’s smart, provocative radio, and Food Republic is honored to join Monocle in promoting “The Menu.” The latest episode looks at notable new restaurants for the new year and includes a report from the recently opened Ace Hotel Pittsburgh’s restaurant, Whitfield, run by Brooklyn restaurateur Brent Young (of the Meat Hook and a native of Pittsburgh), and checks in with Nobelhart & Schmutzig, which we referred to on Food Republic as the Noma of Berlin. Monocle 24 Radio’s “The Menu” also features a monthly check-in with our editorial director, Richard Martin, covering the wave of 2016 food trend reports, the idea of vegetable-forward cuisine and whether the French will take to the idea of le doggy bag.
