Le Creuset Goes To The Matte
Best known for its shiny and colorful landscape of porcelain-enamaled coookware, Le Creuset is taking a rather muted turn with its new matte collection. The line, which debuted early this month exclusively on the brand's website, features Le Creuset's usual lineup of cast iron cookware and bakeware, as well as kitchen tools and utensils, in three basic colors: mineral blue, cotton (white) and sisal (a taupe-ish brown hue).
Considering Le Creuset's strict, time-honored adherence to tradition — the 89-year-old brand still manufactures its products in its original foundry in the French town of Fresnoy-Le-Grand — this subtle update is a bold one, nonetheless. While the collection may not be a visual showstopper, that's what makes these pots and pans so supremely attractive: their stylish understatedness. As we've said before, we're big fans of the matte trend, especially black, which we're hoping Le Creuset will roll out in the next lineup.
With only three choices, picking a color from Le Creuset's new matte collection may not be as much a challenge as deciding how many pieces to add to your kitchen's inventory.[/caption]
Cookware and bakeware pieces are available in the brand's trademark porcelain-enameled cast iron, as well as glazed stoneware (shown above).[/caption]
