Check Out This Coffee Flavor Wheel, So You Know Your Leather From Your Plum
Even if you are unfamiliar with Counter Culture Coffee, it is likely you have been to one of the many fine dining establishments that carry its products. The highly regarded roaster — co-owner Peter Giuliano topped a recent edition of our Coffee Power Rankings — has always stressed education as one of its core missions and is an advocate of direct-trade, single-origin coffee. Part of that education process is stressing the concept of cupping (sampling coffee side by side and drawing out specific flavor profiles). We've always wondered where the flavors come from — all the melons, gingers and "hints of tobacco" we read about. Well, that question was answered when we stumbled upon this flavor wheel, which was posted on Twitter via coffee writer Oliver Strand. You can view a high-resolution version here.
