An App That Lets You Post Your Instagram Food Photos...For A Good Cause!
Let's be honest for a minute here. You've started to roll your eyes every time one of your friends waves you off to Instagram a picture of lunch — an heirloom tomato salad here or salted caramel macaroon there.
But what if you knew that this photo was responsible for providing a meal to someone much less fortunate? Enter Feedie, an app designed to "share food photos to share actual food with those who need it – children." Backed by Mario Batali, the app is currently live and kind of blowing up our universe.
Here's how it works: Eat at one of the 70 participating restaurnats, take a photo of your meal and post it online through Feedie. Upon your sharing the photo with social networks, the restaurant makes a donation to The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit that provides daily meals to disadvantaged schoolchildren in South Africa. Individuals can track where their friends have eaten and how many meals have been donated on behalf of their dining out.
The app is free for iPhone users and can be downloaded through iTunes.
