2013 New York City Wine And Food Festival Schedule Has Dropped, With Big Names
Since it was founded in 2007, the New York City Wine & Food Festival has evolved from Food Network marketing podium (the earliest iterations featured a ubiquitous Guy Fieri shaking hands and kissing babies) to a relatively serious culinary festival featuring Iron Chefs, and a few mere mortals. Last year we had a good time running around our hometown — and by the looks of the 2013 slate, it looks like The @Lee_Schrager has taken cues from Portland and Aspen and stepped up his game.
The long-standing taco and burger throwdowns will return (will Josh Capon win again?), but new additions include a gala featuring the 25th Anniversary of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs, a Global Night Market at The Plaza Food Hall hosted by Todd English, something involving Guy Fieri and the throwback musical Rock of Ages Party. There's also a really strong slate of private dinners featuring heavy hitters like Daniel Humm, David Kinch, Alex Atala, Sean Brock (teaming with his boyz George Mendes and Daniel Patterson) and on and on. To get a seat at one of those, our suggestion is to set a calendar reminder for June 24, when general tickets go on sale at: www.nycwff.org (the website is not live, so vist the festival Facebook page in the meantime)
Here is a list of the dinner series. And as a big time reminder, 100% of net proceeds go to the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry.
