Mario Batali Hospitality Group Honoring Earth Day With...Genovese Basil!
In honor of Earth Day on Monday, April 22, Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group will promote sustainability at its restaurants, at home and at the New York Botanical Garden. Each of the Group's restaurants in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas will create a special Earth Day dish, highlighting the versatile herb Genovese basil.
In addition to special dishes featured at the restaurants at Eataly in New York, the market will offer complimentary tastings of local and sustainable products, while La Scuola di Eataly will celebrate the day with a class focusing on the journey of ingredients from field to plate.
Seeking to promote a commitment to the planet, the Group will provide each restaurant diner and market customer with a custom-made seed packet of Genovese basil. Individuals are also encouraged to stop by Mario Batali's Kitchen Gardens, located at the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden in The New York Botanical Garden. Home to The Edible Academy, the section includes daily cooking demonstrations, family-friendly activities and hands-on gardening.
More information, including a full list of participating restaurants, can be found on Mario Batali's website.
