NYC: The Super Duper Market Launches Today
Advertised as "a super-fun three-day pop-up super-store bringing the coolest food artisans and innovators under one roof," Paper Magazine's Super Duper Market has arrived in New York City's Chelsea district for the upcoming weekend.
Teaming up with American Express and Target, Paper Mag has brought roughly 40 artisan food and drink vendors from around the United States to a raw space in Chelsea. Booths are set up side-by-side, mixing flavors from the East and West coasts and with items ranging from bacon caramel popcorn to fresh gefilte fish.
I had the opportunity to preview the market this afternoon, and the smell of the goods inside wafted out of the Chelsea warehouse as I made my way down the block. Once inside, I was able to walk around the various stations and tasted my way from coast-to-coast. I enjoyed a refreshing Mexican ice pop containing mango and chili from New York Highline's La Newyorkina before sampling the Secret Breakfast (bourbon and cornflakes!) flavor from San Francisco based ice cream shop Humphry Slocombe. A single scoop of the ice cream was more than enough to send me off lightheaded into the New York humidity.
The Super Duper Market will be open this Friday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Retailers will be on hand to sell multiple products at their booths throughout the day.
