Word Of The Day: Mouthfeel
We musn't forget that mouths have feelings, too. In fact, they feel quite a lot. The term mouthfeel deals with what exactly the mouth feels when certain foods and beverages are consumed.
"Mouthfeel" covers such aspects as texture, fluidity, dryness, density, smoothness, graininess, chewiness, aftertaste and so on. Although the mouthfeel of any food can be identified and analyzed, mouthfeel is a term commonly associated with wine drinking, and a wine's mouthfeel can be described as anything from "complex" to "aggressive." Mouthfeels such as these should not be ignored.
