Coca-Cola Adds New Spiced Flavor To Permanent Lineup
Coca-Cola fans, rejoice! The soft drink giant is set to launch a brand new flavor to sip on. Called Coca-Cola Spiced, the new flavor will be a permanent addition to the brand's portfolio and is expected to be released in mid-February. It will feature a blend of the carbonated drink's iconic taste "with a burst of refreshing raspberry flavors and spiced notes," per a press release.
Not a fan of the heat? Fret not, because the soda beverage won't actually be spicy. It will, however, be made available in a Zero Sugar variety for those looking to sample the latest Coke flavor minus all of the calories. The two versions of the new flavor will be available in North American retailers in a variety of size options, including the standard 12-ounce can as well as 20-ounce and two-liter bottles. 12-packs, 10-pack mini cans, and ½-liter six-packs will also be available.
Coca-Cola embraces the spice
According to Coca-Cola, the new spiced flavor is its "boldest-tasting brand innovation yet." The company attributed its new product launch to a growing shift in beverage trends toward offerings that feature enticing flavors, such as raspberry and spiced notes. A 2021 study by Kalsec found that 10% of consumers were willing to try spiced flavors in non-alcoholic drinks. Although it's a relatively small figure, it does represent a 124% increase from two years prior.
The Coca-Cola Spiced and Coca-Cola Spiced Zero Sugar varieties join the company's extensive portfolio of soda offerings. In addition to its signature Original formula — which is said to feature hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and citrus — other flavors include Cherry, Vanilla, and the combined Cherry Vanilla, all of which are available in Zero Sugar options as well. In 2022, the company launched its Coca-Cola Creations collection, which featured products designed with collaboration, creativity, and cultural connections in mind. The first limited-edition product was Coca-Cola Starlight, followed by flavors like Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte and Marshmello's Limited Edition Coca-Cola, the latter of which was made in collaboration with the iconic DJ.
