NYC's One-Night-Only Market Spotlights Latin And Hispanic Street Food
New York City has one of the most diverse food scenes in the country, as it plays host to immigrants and visitors from all over the world. To celebrate the city's diverse Spanish-speaking population and the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Big Apple will be holding its first-ever Latin Night Market.
Taking place in Inwood at Dyckman Street (between Dyckman Plaza and Inwood Park), the Latin Night Market will showcase the many cultures represented by the Hispanic and Latin diaspora in New York, and it will take place on September 15th from 4 pm to 10 pm. Organized by MASC Hospitality Group, which has previously hosted many successful night markets across the city, including Uptown Night Market and Vegan Night Market, the upcoming Latin Night Market will feature food vendors that must sell at least one traditional food from Central America, South America, or the Caribbean.
Entertainment and more information
To go along with the delicious food, Latin Night Market will also be hosting family-friendly performances on multiple stages. The music showcased will include the most significant genres driven by the Hispanic and Latin diaspora, such as salsa, reggae, rumba, jazz, Latin pop, and hip hop. The event will also feature special guests, including local politicians Rep. Adriano Espaillat, Council Member Carmen De La Rosa, Borough President Mark Levine, and Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos.
The organizer has not announced the performer lineup, but interested artists can apply to perform at the event. Similarly, the organizer has vendor spots available for food businesses. Available spaces are limited and start at $500 for a 10x10 space, with an added $100 for each 5-foot space, and an additional $100 for grilling vendors and $200 for food trucks. Interested parties are invited to apply online.
