Boozy Whipped Cream, Anyone?
They say that lightning never strikes the same place twice. Well, Whipped Lightning, "the world's first alcohol-infused whipped cream," is striking new taste buds this fall with three shocking new flavors.
If you haven't heard, Whipahol is a combination of your favorite dessert topping and your favorite past-time: boozing. Introduced to the of-age public last year, this alcoholic whipped cream comes in an assortment of flavors from Amaretto to Tropical Passion, and can be a topping for desserts, drinks or — the favored use here at Food Republic HQ — straight from the can. Before you fill your mouth with the stuff, be warned that Whipped Lightning has a high alcohol content ranging from 15 to 20 percent. In other words, this dessert topping means business.
The three newest flavors (drum roll please) are Strawberry Love, Chocolate Mint and 'tis-the-season Pumpkin Pie. While the scent of each of these respective flavors is strong, the taste of strawberry, chocolate mint or pumpkin pie only lasts for approximately one second before giving way to the the burn of what is described as "grain neutral spririts."
Who needs grandma's homemade pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving when you can get it instantly from a can, infused with booze? This may be just the thing to enhance the dreaded holiday family reunion. Though you may wanna keep the cans hidden from crazy Uncle Larry.
